Mother earth once again dominates color trends. This is very understandable as the solace and peace that we desire are linked in so many ways to nature.
Once again blue-green is in the forecast in a brighter and deeper value and is the perfect companion to rusty reds and mid-tone oranges.
Patina is the softening and burnishing of metal that adds color as well as sheen to produce a mix of hues that fascinate and mesmerize our imagination. Metal finishes heavily influence current trends, from their original hues to those they become with time and erosion.
Fashion and cosmetics are leaders in color forecasting due to the fact that those trends change quickly. Many colors in the forecast are linked to fashion including soft pink, rich berry colors and browns influenced by plum.
Cloud Number Nine
Blues and greens mingle to shape a feeling of calm, quiet retreat. Bamboo has been a popular material for many home products as it is sustainable and ecofriendly. Most people do not see bamboo in its natural state, soft combinations of blues and greens cover its stalks.
Metal's influence has grown in importance, especially the warm tones of copper and gold. It is not surprising that copper is popular since it is the complement to blue-green. Metal finishes will appear in unusual ways, as a finish on wood or as an accent with paint finishes.
The word “pop” is used for accent colors, but the yellow in this forecast outshines that term. Bright green, the color of new foliage, is a happy companion to yellow and makes us smile. An off black color, reminiscent of graffiti offers an edgy accent to these bright accent colors.
We hope this short tour of colors to watch in 2014 and 2015 offers inspiration for your next project…. You can also follow Diamond Vogel Color Trends at http://www.diamondvogel.com/content/color-trends.
